Child Soldiers

Former Child Soldiers of Liberia
The children of Liberia face a difficult future. They have all missed out on their education and growing up with their parents and families.a:1:{s:10:'video_meta';a:4:{s:10:'embed_code';s:720:'

because most groups that use children know that alot of troops have a problem killing/shooting/maiming a child…it makes it easier for the children to get closer to troops without being notice and seen as a threat plus children are easier to control and manipulate into certain views…it’s sad to think that these tactics are used everyday to fight battles and putting innocent children in the position is horrible…

Should child soldiers be held accountable for the crimes they commit?
Whether they are in an African rebel group, the Taliban, al-Qaeda, or any other armed militia, do you think that child soldiers should be held responsible for their actions while in these groups? Why or why not?

child soldiers- usually used in 3rd world countries to fight for a couse that they believe in or don’t and are under the age of 18. often used to make there enemies make a choice of killing a child or possibly dieing. basically a form of psychological warfare. and a slide should be short and to the point. not long and boring if you make it too long then people will lose interest in it.

Interviewing a US soldier for part of my research paper about child soldiers, any suggestions for questions?
The soldier is my husband, this will be a phone interview, and I want his experiences with child soldiers or children acting against military forces. This will be a great way to add more dimension to my paper. I know how to plan the interview; I just need suggestions for questions. Thank you.

first ask the basics name, rank, branch, years of service
then go into to personal things like have any of your friends or people you come to know died in battle, how do you feel about the war, are you one of the many returning or staying

According to United Nations statutes, child soldiers (under 15 years) are illegal.
It is possible to prosecute a child for war crimes but they cannot receive the death penalty nor life imprisonment. Sometimes – like in Sierra Leone, Africa – they are considered victims as well as possible war criminals.
My opinion, yes. But I do agree that any punishment should be less severe. If a child in the US commits murder, they are also held accountable, but to a lesser degree, than if they were an adult.
