What is the music used on the BBC trailer for the documentary World War II Behind Closed Doors?
Broadcast around 28-30 Oct 2008, it’s lifted from a film or TV show but I can’t remember which and it’s driving me mad. Please put me out of my misery!

Why were the Russians so feared by the Germans during World War II?
I watch a lot of World War II documentaries and movies about that war. But one thing I was wondering was, in a lot of those things Ive watched the Americans and the Russians were closing in on the Germans from both sides and the Germans always seem to hope the Americans will get to them first. And then when the Americans do get to them first the Germans seem to breathe a big sigh of relief. Why is this?

What is the best World War II Documentary out there?
Im looking for a good world war 2 documentary with video footage and all of that, and I think that The World At War seems the best, but Ive also seen commercials for one on tv lately that looked pretty good. It might have been that one, but Im not sure. Recommendations?

When it came time for Germans to surrender, Germans and Russians fought for 5 bloody years. On the other hand, Americans have just gotten involved in the last few months of the war (June ’44). With the invasion of France on D-Day. By 1945, Russians have lost 6.5 million soldiers in battle. Another 3.5 million died as prisoners of war. Compare 10 million Russians, to 120,000 Americans and 380,000 Brits that died in Europe.
This is how they died:
Nazis:
Fighting in battle : Germany lost 4.5 million
Died as POW: 1 million died, 5.5 million captured
Russians:
Fighting in battle: Russia lost 6.5 million
Died as prisoners of war: 3.5 million died out of 5 million captured.
Millions of Russian soldiers and civilians were killed by Germans. Every Russian soldier knew someone that was killed by Germans. Entire families were wiped out. If you knew this fact, and were a German soldier in WW2, would you surrender to Russians?

‘World War One In Colour’ is the best documentary series on WW1 with lots of actuality (original footage filmed at the time) footage I’ve seen.
The Thames Television series from the 70s ‘The World at War’ has the most actuality footage.
